About

Maggie Jacobberger has been a tutor, mentor, and academic coach for nearly 30 years. She started as a peer tutor in high school and founded Smart Cookie Learning in 2010 with the mission to provide students with invaluable and intangible study skills that are essential to lifelong learning and academic success: conscientiousness, grit, resilience, perseverance, and optimism.

Maggie was born and raised in Lafayette, CA. She graduated from Harvard College after receiving an excellent public school education at Happy Valley Elementary School, Stanley Middle School, and Acalanes High School. While at Harvard, she wrote for the Harvard Crimson and taught Writing, Reading, Journalism, and Math classes to students in the Fresh Pond Enrichment Program. After graduating from Harvard with an honors degree in History, Maggie wrote, researched, and edited the biography of Frances O. Grant, one of Radcliffe College’s earliest African-American graduates (class of 1917 and its first African American Phi Beta Kappa recipient) and a pioneer in the education of African American children throughout the 20th century. In June 2015, Maggie earned a certificate in College Admissions and Career Planning from UC Berkeley Extension.

In addition to feeding hungry young minds, Maggie enjoys hiking, volunteering, cooking, eating great food, and cheering for the 2010, 2012, and 2014 World Champion San Francisco Giants.
